The Stories In Your Head

Everyone has a story worth sharing. Deep down, and in the end, that's all we are: stories.
I recently listened to a podcast by my most favorite story helper aficionado: K. M. Weiland and her podcast, "Helping Writers Become Authors." Episode 556 was all about "Why Everyone Should Write (Even If You Think You Stink)." I found it encouraging for all of us in sharing the stories within us. But it was especially motivating for me as a writer because it reminded me of why writing is important to me.
I'm closer now than ever to sharing my WIP that is a seven book ya fantasy series called Eden's Chaos Chronicles, and I'm scared. Scared people won't love the characters lie I do, that the world won't make sense. Scared that I'm not effectively showing what the scenes and atmosphere is like. Scared I'm not a good writer.

I'm remembering to stay faithful to the stories in my head. They're worth telling even if no one else reads them. My stories are worth telling because it brings me joy and relieves my soul. I'm staying faithful to my process because I believe in my work and the community I hope it will create.
So, I have a challenge to you. Yes, YOU, the one reading this article now. Right now, go grab something to write or type with and jot down the first magical thing that pops into your head. It doesn't have to make sense! Maybe it's a phrase or a quote. Perhaps its just a mess of words... you did it! You started a story.
It's important for us to imagine, play, to be silly, and explore. Why not try and write a story that helps you do those things? Let your inner kid take over for a change.
